About Pastor Bruce
- Grew up in Oxford, MA on a small farm, attending an American Baptist Church
- Received Jesus as Lord and Savior at age 10
- Graduated from the University of Massachusetts., Amherst with a BA degree in Psychology, History, and Social Sciences
- Graduated from Andover-Newton Theological School in Newton, MA in 1980
- Ordained as an American Baptist Pastor in 1979 at FBC, North Oxford, MA
- Called to serve at Grace Baptist Church in Somerville, MA in 1980-1986, during which time the church built a homeless shelter for six families of four within their building with all free services
- Called to FBC in Belmont, MA from 1986-1997, during a major renovation of the church building as well as the large parsonage
- Called to Community Baptist Church in Manchester, CT in 1997-2009 during which time the church helped begin a new church in Hartford and supported a sister church in the Dominican Republic
- Co-led nine short-term mission trips to the Dominican Republic
- Came to First Baptist Church of Wallingford in July of 2009 as the Interim Pastor and am looking forward to a wonderful ministry together for the glory of God
He lives in Manchester, CT with his wife, Bettylou, whom he married in 2001. She has one daughter, Ruth, who lives in the Boston area. Bettylou is the owner of Bettylou’s Gardening, teaching people how to do gardening themselves and teaches numerous gardening courses at Manchester Community College.
Pastor Bruce also enjoys photography, collecting fossils, running his o gauge trains, and teaching a course on the Christian symbolism and theology of graveyard headstones dating from 1620-1799.
