How to Become a Christian
A. Ask. Ask God to forgive you of all your sins. Tell him you are truly sorry for any sins you may have committed. Ask Him to help you to live for Him all the days of your life. (Matthew 4:17 - "Repent 9 ((admit your sins)) for the Kingdom of Heaven is at hand.")
B. Believe. Believe in your heart that God loves you, that He sent Jesus to die for you, that He will truly forgive you of any wrong-doing, and that His Holy Spirit will dwell within you helping you to live for Him. (John 1:12 - "As many as received Him to them He gave the right to become children of God, even to those who believe in His name.")
C. Confess. Confess to God, in prayer, your need for His love and forgiveness. Receive it. Then confess with your mouth that you are a Christian. That is, tell someone else that you are now a Christian and that you want to live for God. (I John 1:9 - "If we CONFESS our sins He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.")
D. Determine. Determine to live for Christ all the days of your life. (Romans 6:1ff ".shall we go on sinning.? By no means! We died to sin. ((when we)) were baptized into Christ Jesus ((we)) were baptized into His death.").
Prayer: "Lord Jesus, I ask you to forgive me of all my sins. I am sorry and I want to live for you from now on. Thank you for dying on the cross for my sins. Thank you for forgiving me and for giving me eternal life. I open the door of my life and receive you as my own personal Savior. Help me to live for you all the days of my life. In Jesus' name. Amen.
